The Truth About My Best Friend Broke Me

My best friend begged to stay with me after her husband left her.
She was heartbroken, a complete mess — and of course, I said yes. She needed a safe space, and my husband didn’t object.

For two weeks, she stayed in our home. I comforted her. I listened. I cooked for her. She cried on my shoulder while I reassured her that everything would eventually be okay.

Then, two weeks later, I ran into her ex-husband at the grocery store.

I casually mentioned, “She’s been staying with me since the split.”

He raised his eyebrows and laughed.
“Oh? So you don’t know?” he said, smirking.
I frowned. “Don’t know what?”

He leaned in slightly and dropped the bomb:
“Your husband is the reason we split. They’ve been having an affair for months.”

My world stopped.

I went home in a daze, heart pounding, questions swirling. That night, I confronted both of them.

Neither denied it.

My best friend.
My husband.
In my house. Under my roof. Betraying me while pretending to be broken.

I didn’t just lose a friend that day. I lost two people I thought I could trust with my life.
